I am Raya. I’m someone who has always had many interests and curiosities, but with a rebellious inner self. I LOVE all things planning and creating systems (I’m an engineer by profession), but I’m terrible at convincing myself to follow my own plans, let alone other people’s plans, systems, and "shoulds."
I spent my entire life trying to create “the perfect” plan, “the perfect” system (spoiler alert: it doesn’t exist, but good enough does) that would help me spend my days with intention and relative ease. I tried all sorts of planning methods and productivity tips. Aside from a couple of tips, nothing ever stuck or felt sustainable.
After I accepted that, despite my love for planning, I’m just too rebellious and moody for traditional plans, it hit me.
What if I created a system where my rebelliousness and moodiness were features, not bugs?
What if my plan was flexible and didn’t rely on motivation or discipline?
So I went ahead and hand-drew a new system to accommodate my ever-changing energy levels. I forgot that time was a thing and listed a varied selection of activities to satisfy my rebellious self.
After using my new (now not-so-new) system for years, I realized there must be others like me. People who’ve been searching, and maybe still are, for something that actually works. I know I was always searching, with no avail. So here I am, sharing my system with the world. Especially with people who lead curious lives, juggle multiple passions, and always have something going on on the side.
The flow shaping method is the name of the system I created. A system with built-in intentional and slow living, no busy-ness for the sake of being busy, and no productivity for the sake of endless chasing. The flow shaping method is a method that uses your natural flow of living your daily life as its core base, and then shapes it gently to direct your natural flow to nourish your values, passions, and aspirations, one minor move at a time.
I wrote a book explaining the flow shaping method, all of its elements, and how you can create your own individual flow-shaped system with examples and exercises. The book will be released soon.
